Intoduce you, Michelle Phan!

Heyya everybody! Yesterday I little bit discuss about michelle phan on previous thread, and today I wanna introduce you, Michelle Phan! Yes, she is an is an American make-up instructor who posts make-up and beauty tutorials on Youtube, sometimes under the online alias ricebunny. Michelle Phan was born in Boston, Massachusettes on April 11, 1987.

Phan joined Youtube on July 18, 2006 and has created over 200 videos. As of February 2012, she has garnered over 585 million views and over 1,900,000 subscribers, making her channel the most subscribed beauty channel on YouTube! (how cool is she!) Phan is known for her video style that incorporates her voice-over instruction with music and text subtitles. Popular beauty tutorials released on Phan's YouTube channel. Her most popular videos include the "Lady Gaga 'Poker Face' Tutorial" with over 30,000,000 video views on YouTube!

In 2010, Phan was hired by Lancôme. Since then, her videos have included Lancôme beauty products. The partnership with Lancôme led to a backlash by fans concerned with animal rights. According to the PETA website, Lancôme, owned by L'Oreal, continues to test on animals.

FYI, she's have a short film in her Youtube. I have watched it three times, but i've never get bored at all haha.

Gaga's debut fragrance

Yesterday photos of Lady Gaga's new fragrance, Fame, were leaked online. Gaga was not a happy bunny, tweeting, "Looks like photos of my perfume are being leaked. Oh you fashion editors I could just crinkle my hands at you!" She then went on to share her own images of the perfume bottle and packaging, and also revealed more details about the fragrance, including this fun fact, "My perfume was designed for women, but a lot of my gay friends wear it."Lady Gaga's fragrance will launch in the Autumn (I've already heard a few industry rumours about what's in store - and it sounds like it will be a strong launch), so are you planning to buy a bottle? Reportedly it smells like an "expensive hooker", if that affects your decision...

So, the question still remains, would you wear Gaga's new fragrance? :)

DIY: sparkling sneakers

what you need

- Plain white sneakers
- Masking tape
- Paintbrush
- Three or four bottles of Martha Stewart glitter in the same color family, ranging from light to dark. The darkest glitter can also be a bit chunkier than the other ones for an interesting accent.
- Setacolor Silver Glitter Finish fabric paint
- Mod-Podge Sealer in Gloss finish
- Four small plastic or disposable plates

tape shoe soles

Apply the masking tape over any parts of the shoe that you do not want to paint. Be sure to cover all of the soles. Take care to smooth the tape down so that you don't leave any gaps along the top.

remove shoe laces

Remove the laces from the shoes, then pour a large glob of the silver glitter paint into the plate.

start with the lightest glitter

Pour a large amount of the lightest color of glitter into the paint. It's important to work from the lightest color to the darkest.

stir the glitter into the paint

Stir up the glitter/paint mixture. You want it to have a somewhat grainy consistency, but you don't want the paint to be dry or chunky. Adjust the amount of glitter and paint until you have a nice mix.

paint 1/3 of the shoe

Paint about one third of the shoe with the silver glitter mixture, being sure to get every part of the canvas. When you get to the 1/3 mark, brush the paintbrush back and forth to blur the end line of the silver paint. This will help the ombre effect to look more natural.

pour more paint

Using a clean plate, pour another glob of silver glitter paint into the plate.

start with second color of glitter

Pour a large amount of the second lightest color of glitter into the paint.

mix glitter and paint well

Mix well, and make any adjustments to the consistency.

begin painting the second color

Start painting the second color about half an inch behind where the first color ended, so that the first and second colors overlap and blend together. Paint the third color until just before the shoe laces stop, and blend out the edges. Be sure to pull out the tongues of the shoes and paint them as well.

mix the darkest color

Mix the next darkest color with the paint on a clean plate.

Be sure to get a nice consistency!

finish painting

If you're using three colors of glitter, paint the remainder of the shoe. If you're using four colors, save some space at the toe. Use the same overlap technique with the middle color to ensure the shades blend well. For this pair, I used a fourth color of chunky glitter, and applied it just at the toes for a fun accent.

seal the paint

Pour a bit of Mod-Podge onto a clean plate. Make sure your brush is clean!

And your Sneaker's Ready!

Replace the laces, and allow the shoes to dry overnight.

Instant Eyeshadow

Ever poured over endless magazines and looked longingly at the perfectly made up eyes of celebrities and stars on film and tv? Ever sat in front of your mirror for hour upon hour attempting to recreate these flawless, smoky eyes on yourself, only to end up looking more goth than glam?

Fear not as American beauty brand ColorOn Professional has arrived in the UK with their debut product, eye shadow kit Eye Envy.

The US company has been making their signature item since 1992, with the primary aim of making anyone look as if they have been glamorized by a professional make up artist.

 

In essence, the ‘eye shadows’ are mineral eye shadows laden onto a disposable, single-use applicator, in colours and designs ranging from subtle daytime to smouldering evening looks.

Each appliqué allegedly fits every eye size and shape and can be applied in a matter of seconds.

And  the verdict?

My Colour On Pro Eye envy arrived whilst i was in the office. The result? I have mixed opinions about this product.

The girls cooed over the variety of different colours and shades and were all desperate to try them on. They were really easy to use, far easier than I imagined they would be, though I was surprised that the shadow was more of a wet, gel than smooth powder ( clearly this is what the finishing powder is for, to dry and set the shadow)

While the more novelty shadows went down a treat and did look incredible, I was less impressed by the regular colours. Im not going to lie, I did look a little like a drag queen and I couldn’t get the shadows to match on both sides- one would be higher than the other, one would come out better than the other, and I found it almost impossible to blend the shadow to make it look more’natural’. 

So, for a big night out id say try the novelty shadows like that pictured on my colleague, but if your after a more natural look, stay well clear of these!
